Mil-Surp 37mm Rocket Parachute Flare. Have two, one opened with the shipping container like new. The other in the container unopened.
The pictures of the rocket are NOT what you are buying. They are there to show what the rocket looks like. These rounds are new/like new, fully loaded and MUST be shipped HazMat! The signal is contained in a solid fuel rocket which is expelled from the casing and ignites some distance away. It then rises to at least 500 feet where a parachute supporting a bright Red flare deploys.
Both are dated March 1953 and were made by the Aerial Products Inc. of Elkton, MD. which went out of business in 1958. One of the patent drawings can be found here: http://www.google.com/patents/US2442528
A detailed discussion of these rounds can be found beginning on page 84 here: http://maritime.org/doc/pyro/part4.htm
I expect that both are shootable but we cannot guarantee that they will work therefore they are being sold as collector items.
We just have two.
